It`s that time of year when we look back at the last 12 months, shake our head and ask, "did that really happened?" Dr. Drew and his guests recently took some time to look at the most talked about celebrity stories of 2011.
So, let`s begin with the “winningest” moment of year … of course, referring to the antics of Charlie Sheen.
We remember Sheen saying things such as: “I`m smoking a cigarette and drinking something I won`t reveal, unless, they pay me! Everybody wins!”
But ... did Sheen really win?
“He walks away from Warner Brothers and CBS TV with a golden parachute for, ultimately, his bad behavior – some $25 million, I`m told,” RadarOnline’s Senior Editor Dylan Howard said. “He has a new TV show. He has a chance to rebuild his career, but we have never seen a blow-up, a disaster, from a celebrity the way we did with Charlie Sheen.”
Dr. Drew had asked his panel if they thought the public learned anything about mental health from Sheen’s ordeal.
“I don`t,” attorney Lisa Bloom said. “I was in an airport when [a video of Sheen was] broadcast, and everyone was clustered around it, watching it, laughing, and cheering and high-fiving each other. You know, we love sort of crazy, manic behavior, without recognizing that it really is a form of mental illness, and it needs our compassion.”
Former Los Angeles prosecutor Loni Coombs added, “I actually think some people had their eyes open to actually see it. You can hear about it. You can talk about it when you actually see it and then having people like you talk about it. I think it might actually help some people.”
Another shocking moment, or perhaps, not so shocking from this year … Lindsay Lohan. She was back in court, working at the morgue, posing for Playboy.
"We hope for the best for her and for everyone who`s got substance abuse problems,” Bloom said. “But the odds are not good. The relapses are constant. They keep on coming. She`s got to really make a commitment to having a different kind of life than she`s been leading.”
Dr. Drew added, that addicts believe they can maintain the party, continue the party and "not use." It "doesn`t work like that,” he said.
Coombs though, feels Lohan is learning to start to follow the rules in baby-steps.
“I give a lot of credit to Judge Stephanie Sautner," she said. “I have appeared in front of her to prosecute cases, and she has this very firm, yet, sort of motherly approach, and I think, for some reason, it`s resonated with Lindsay Lohan.”
Criminal defense attorney Mark Eiglarsh believes we can still laugh about Lohan or Sheen, but says the reality of the situation is very sad.
“One of three things is going to happen,” he stated. “They`re either going to get well – they`re going to wind up in jail – or they`re going to wind up dead. It doesn`t look like they`re on their way to getting well. They haven`t changed people, places, or things … I`m very concerned about both of them.”
Last, but certainly not least ... who could forget one of the biggest stories of them all ... the marriage and split of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries.
“People have been exposed to the fact that everything in their life is scripted and that television show, for want of a better deal, they wanted that marriage,” Howard explained. “It became a story line. I think we`ve woken up to that … and I think there`s going to be some serious issues for them going forward. Their star is not shining as brightly as it was at the start of the year.”
Dr. Drew added, “again, let`s not blame the Kardashians – let`s blame us. We are consuming this crap … I`m just saying.”

Casey Anthony, Robyn Gardner and Amanda Knox dominated the 2011 media coverage. Was this the year of the femme fatale? Dr. Drew and his guests discuss their stories.
We all, of course, try to stay away from holiday weight gain ... but many times, we end up losing this very difficult battle.
But who better to give us a few pointers about the issue then Dolvett Quince, a trainer on NBC’s "The Biggest Loser" and "The Biggest Loser" himself, John Rhode, who lost 220-pounds in 13-weeks.
“Everybody puts weight on this time of the year, and my goal is to not put any weight on,” Rhode told Dr. Drew Wednesday night. “And, so, I`ve got my work cut out for me.”
Drew asked Rhode if he was fearful of sliding back to where he was once was weight wise.
“I am fearful of it every day,” he answered. “I`m hoping that through not only the fear, but also proper planning, that I can avoid that trap. I understand the odds – probably 50/50. I`m going to do everything I can to stay healthy and happy and just continue to live active, rewarding lifestyle.”
Rhode added that many people reach out to him, hold him accountable and that Quince had helped a great deal in the latter part of the show dealing with his emotions.
“For me, the emotional component seemed to be what was missing,” Rhode said. “The things that Quince taught me at the ranch, I carry those with me every day. Dolvett set the perfect example for me. He showed me how to be vulnerable.”
Quince expanded upon the issue of emotional vulnerability.
“It simply means, just diving into this with the right mindset,” he said. “Emotionally, you have to not have any walls up.”
Dr. Drew interjected, “it`s funny you would use the word ‘wall,’ because in my experience, a lot of people that have an excessively large body around them, use that body as an emotional barrier against other people. When they lose that protective barrier, sometimes, they get depressed. Sometimes, they get panicky. Sometimes they just lose their sense of who they are.”
Rhode responded, "I had to learn how to feel. I wasn`t even sure what to feel at times. I`d spent so many years letting food dictate how I would feel. You know, I would overeat until I felt pain in my stomach and uncomfortable. So, I had to rethink everything. I had to figure out, ‘how do I feel?’”
Later, Quince noted that Rhode had told him that he was a food addict when the two first met one another.
“He knew it off the jump,” Quince said. “When you get to that stage in your life, like, ‘my goal is to gorge and eat to where I can`t eat anymore [until] it hurts,’ then you`re in trouble. You have to get beyond that. And you have to put down that wall in order to be successful.”
Dr. Drew asked Quince if there were things that people can put in place now to avoid feeling guilty after the holidays.
“Take accountability for what you`re doing to yourself,” Quince said. “We don`t pay attention to what`s happening inside. How about writing it down? How about saying, ‘OK, for breakfast I have this, for lunch I have this, for dinner I have this.’”
He also recommends doing a combination of cardio and weightlifting.
“Create balance,” Quince stated. “Eat light, eat healthy, make good choices, but also get a burn in. You`ll be surprised how much energy you have.”

“Octomom” Nadya Suleman told Dr. Drew Tuesday night that her house is currently in foreclosure.
"I`m hopeful that it will sell," she said after explaining that her friend and real estate agent will be doing a short sale on the home. "I won`t make anything off of it. So, the goal … will be to move or lease a home.”
Dr. Drew asked Suleman for an estimate on how much it is every month to raise her 14 kids. “Like, $12,000?” he inquired.
Suleman responded, “No. I`ve reduced it significantly. So, unfortunately, I have not been able to keep up with the house payments.”
Dr. Drew stated, “your net now is like $5,000 a month after taxes … without a house payment?"
“Right,” Suleman replied.
Later, Dr. Drew asked Suleman if she was fearful of not being able to meet all of her children's attachment needs.
“I`m absolutely not,” she said. "I`m not at all … there`s always the unique differences in mothers and families … I`ve learned so much through my children and how to parent. And I had the experience of being, unfortunately, being a permissive and diligent parent with my older ones. I`ve seen how that can inadvertently handicap a child. And by spoiling a child, it can destroy them, really.”
Dr. Drew interjected, “so, you have a household where the octuplets are going to be extremely regimented? Are they going to resent the older kids?"
Suleman replied, “I think they`re going to be the happiest, most religious children I have raised, because they are so grateful for every little thing. And that`s one of the ingredients – I believed I had this enlightenment a couple of months ago – a formula for happiness, and one of which is huge. It`s being grateful. I think that the more grateful we are for the littlest things in our life, the happier we really are.”
Near the end of the interview, Suleman said she has been given the opportunity to be followed and documented as a fitness trainer. “The man [who is giving me the opportunity] wants to pitch it to networks,” she said.
Suleman also noted that she has the opportunity to work with a trainer who was an Olympic boxing champion. “He`s actually helping me build a clientele, and he`s helping me build a business,” she said.
Octomom says she will appear in her own show on Ustream as well.
Dr. Drew reminded Suleman though that if she ever is severely strapped for money, that she is entitled to public funds. “We`ll [have you] come on and talk about that if you ever get to that point,” he said. “You`re entitled to it if things really don`t work out. There`s a bunch of kids here. It`s not about you, it`s about those kids.”
Suleman says she does not want handouts from people because she “doesn`t want to be a burden on anybody.”
